FBC: Firebreak Reveals Release Date and Details for Massive Breakpoint Update
Remedy Entertainment has confirmed the official release date for FBC: Firebreak‘s upcoming Breakpoint update, while also detailing some changes that are on the way. Gamers will gain access to a revamped version of FBC: Firebreak on September 29, and the game will feature numerous improvements, including a much-needed enhanced tutorial for onboarding new players.
Set in the same universe as Control, FBC: Firebreak was released back in June, and it reportedly failed to meet Remedy’s sales expectations, despite attracting over one million players in just over one week. FBC: Firebreak received mixed reviews from critics, who were skeptical of its gameplay loop, poorly balanced solo mode, and lack of variety, but still praised its storytelling and class system.
FBC: Firebreak Breakpoint Update Release Date and Time
- September 29 at 1 PM ET
Remedy has recently confirmed that FBC: Firebreak‘s Breakpoint update will be available across all platforms on September 29 at 1 pm ET, bringing huge systemic overhauls, more content, and quality of life changes. According to Remedy, the main goal of the update is to improve the entire experience, injecting more variety and depth into the game. It also aims to introduce better onboarding for new players, as the lack of a clear tutorial was one of FBC Firebreak’s greatest failures at launch. One of the main changes to Breakpoint is the Crisis Board, which will replace the Job Board, presenting more curated playable content. In this new system, each Crisis will be a curated version of one of the existing Jobs with randomized rewards, objectives, and length, and will be refreshed every 30 minutes. Remedy also confirmed a new tutorial level called “Orientation,” which will have a voiceover teaching players the basics.
Other fresh elements include the new Outbreak crisis, which will bring a new location and more enemies. The upcoming FBC: Firebreak Breakpoint update will also bring more guns, grenades, and cosmetics, promising more variety in gameplay. Players will finally gain access to gun customization with mods, the economy and progression of FBC: Firebreak will be overhauled, and systemic improvements will be made to different aspects of the experience, including elements such as harmful conditions, objectives, devices, and more.
Hopefully, the update will be enough to improve FBC: Firebreak’s popularity as, for a live service title, the game has struggled to maintain its playerbase. Back in August, fewer than 10 people were playing FBC: Firebreak on Steam, showcasing how much the title has struggled to maintain its relevancy after peaking at a mere 1,992 simultaneous players on the platform soon after launch.
