How to Solve the Ominous Photo Puzzle in Silent Hill f (Missing Picture Location)

After surviving the nightmares of Ebisugaoka town and the Dark Shrine (Otherworld) areas, Hinako will finally make it back to Shimizu Residence in Silent Hill f. However, it’s not the same home as Hinako remembers, as it’ll be tainted by the infectious spider lilies. Once players explore the section a little more, they’ll arrive in a living room with several photo frames hung on the wall. This will start the Ominous Photo puzzle in Silent Hill f, requiring players to find the missing picture and complete the mystery.

How to Solve the Ominous Photo Puzzle in Silent Hill f (All Solutions)

Players will encounter the Ominous Photo puzzle in the Shimizu Residence, towards the end of Silent Hill f’s story. Players will need to head through the rooms on the west, through Hinako’s parents’ room.

The puzzle cannot be solved immediately, as one of the pictures on the north wall is missing. You’ll need to go through the different variations of the Shimizu Residence to find the missing photo, mount it back on the wall, to finally solve the Ominous Photo puzzle.

Once you’ve retrieved the frame, you’ll need to carefully observe the family portrait on the main wall, depicting Hinako with her family and friends. The people with their faces scrawled over symbolize the ones whom Hinako despises (or values less). This is the biggest hint to solve the puzzle, as the people with scratched faces in the main photo will change depending on what ending you’re going to get.

Here are all possible solutions for the Ominous Photo puzzle according to each of the endings.

Once you rotate the photos to the proper orientation, the main photograph will fall off, revealing the White Bird and Fox Plate (Crest). This will complete the Ominous Puzzle in Silent Hill f, allowing players to use the crest in the My Room puzzle.

Missing Picture Location in Shimizu Residence (Ominous Photo Puzzle)

Upon entering the room with the Ominous Photo puzzle in Silent Hill f, players will notice a missing picture frame on the wall. The missing frame is actually a portrait of Hinako, which is a key component in solving the puzzle.

To find the missing picture frame, players will need to head to the Shimizu Residence II, a second variant of the household. For that, you’ll need to head to the eastern part of the house to the location marked on the map above.

Follow the corridor until you spot a red glowing door at the end. Move closer to the door, and you’ll spot a calendar on the right side marked with the date six. Grab the Calendar and return to the central hallway, where the shrine is located.

Hang the calendar on the wall to the right in the hallway to open up the double doors to the left. Enter the doorway to reach the Shimizu Residence II area, an alternate version of Hinako’s house.

Head to the eastern side of the house, similar to where you found the calendar (location marked on the map above).

After entering the room, Hinako will find the missing large picture frame of herself required for the Ominous Photo puzzle in Silent Hill f. Once you obtain the picture, you’ll need to pass through Shimizu Residence III first, before returning to the starting area.

So, now exit the room and head to the western part of the household (location marked on the map above). There will be several enemies roaming the hallways, so be careful as you travel through the area.

After entering the room, a flashback will play for Hinako and her parents. Once it’s over, grab the calendar with the date 26th marked on it. Now, return to the main hallway, and just as before, hang the calendar marked with the 26th date on the wall.

This will open the doorway to the left, which will take players to Shimizu Residence III. Thankfully, there aren’t any requirements to unlock the doorway in the main hall for this area. Simply walk through the doorway in the main hall with a yellowish glow to return to the first variant of the Shimizu Residence. Now, simply put the Picture Frame back on the wall, in the Ominous Photo puzzle room in Silent Hill f.
